Difference Between Calcium Carbonate

Academy

light calcium & heavy calcium

Due to relatively more impurities in heavy calcium carbonate, the product whiteness is generally 89% to 93%. Heavy calcium is generally calculated by fineness, which is generally divided into 325 mesh, 600 mesh, 800 mesh, 1000 mesh, 1250 mesh, etc.;

The purity of light calcium carbonate products is high, so the whiteness is generally 92% to 95%.

The most obvious difference between heavy calcium and light calcium lies in the bulk density of the products. Generally, heavy calcium products have a higher bulk density of 0.8~1.3g/cm3, while light calcium products have a smaller bulk density of 0.5~0.7 g/cm3, the bulk density of some nano calcium carbonate products can reach about 0.28g/cm3.

Heavy calcium and light calcium products can also be roughly distinguished from the packaging volume of the product. Generally, heavy calcium products are mostly 25kg/package, and the product packaging volume is small, while the packaging volume of light calcium products of the same quality is obviously larger.

The particle size of heavy calcium products ranges from 0.5 to 45um. The smaller the particle size of the product, the higher the price. The particle size of ordinary light calcium products is generally 0.5~15um.

The identification method can adopt transmission or scanning electron microscope analysis and detection, which is more intuitive and accurate, and can also be judged by methods such as specific surface area measurement or particle size analyzer analysis and detection.

Due to the mechanical crushing and grading of heavy calcium products, the particle shape is irregular, also known as amorphous.

The particle size of light calcium carbonate products is generally more regular. For example, ordinary light calcium is mainly in the spindle shape, and nano calcium carbonate is mainly in the cubic crystal form.
